Exclusive Interview: Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas Shares Insights on Kishkindhapuri

Interviewer: Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas, how does it feel to be part of your first horror film, Kishkindhapuri?Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: It's been a thrilling experience for me. I've mostly done mass commercial entertainers, but I’ve always had a fondness for different genres like horror. When Kaushik narrated Kishkindhapuri to me, I was immediately intrigued. It’s a fresh cinematic experience, blending horror and mystery in a unique way. We recently watched the final cut in theaters, and I was blown away by the results, especially the sound design by Radha Krishna, who worked on Salaar, Animal, and Kantara. This film brings a technically brilliant horror mystery to the screen.

Interviewer: You received great applause for Rakshasudu. How is Kishkindhapuri different from that?
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: Yes, Rakshasudu was well-received, especially by female audiences. But Kishkindhapuri takes things to another level. It’s not just about jump scares—it weaves horror and mystery seamlessly into the plot. The story is gripping and offers an edge-of-the-seat experience that I’m really proud to be a part of.

Interviewer: Tell us about your producer, Sahu Garapati.
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: Sahu Garu has been incredible. Horror films often face budget limitations, but he ensured there were no compromises in terms of quality. From graphics to technical presentation, Sahu Garu gave us everything the film needed to make it stand out. His support made me even prouder to be a part of this project.

Interviewer: How would you describe the action sequences in Kishkindhapuri?
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: The action is deeply rooted in the story—it’s not just added for the sake of it. The combination of action, sound, and visuals makes for a truly thrilling experience. Every fight scene has a purpose and contributes to the story, which is what makes it stand out.

Interviewer: How was it working with Anupama Parameswaran?
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: Anupama has done a phenomenal job in her role. It’s quite different from anything she’s done before, and her performance is going to surprise the audience. She took on a challenging role, and I think she nailed it.

Interviewer: Horror films are often best enjoyed in theaters. Do you agree?
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: Absolutely! Watching a serious horror film like Kishkindhapuri with a packed audience is an entirely different experience. The atmosphere in the theater enhances the horror, and even the censor board mentioned that it had been a long time since they saw such a serious horror film.

Interviewer: I hear a vintage radio set plays a significant part in the movie. Can you share more about that?
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: Yes, the "Suvarnamaya Radio Station" set was specially designed for the film. Some of the sequences were shot in an actual abandoned house that we helped renovate into a new building. It added a unique touch to the film’s atmosphere and was essential in establishing the eerie setting.

Interviewer: What do you look for in a script before signing on to a film?
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: Content always comes first for me. I love taking on new challenges and proving myself as an actor. Each character brings fresh energy and the opportunity to explore different facets of acting. That’s what excites me about every new project.

Interviewer: Can you tell us about your upcoming projects?
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: I’ve just wrapped up shooting for Tyson Naidu, which is currently in post-production. Haindava is in its final stages; we had some delays due to the recent strikes, but it’s almost done. I’m also working on a new-age thriller with Polimera director Anil. These are all different kinds of films, and I’m excited to share more details soon.

Interviewer: Best of luck with all your upcoming projects!
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas: Thank you! I’m really looking forward to the audience’s response.
