Buchi Babu Interview: Peddi Was Made For Ram Charan

Buchi Babu Interview: Peddi Was Made For Ram Charan

With just only day left for Peddi release, how confident are you about the film?
Director Buchi Babu: I am very confident. Peddi is an emotional and powerful cinematic experience. It has action, drama, family emotions, and strong moments that audiences can enjoy in theatres with their families.

There were reports that Peddi was earlier planned with NTR. Is that true?
Director Buchi Babu: No, those reports are incorrect. The story that was associated with NTR was completely different. Peddi was developed specially for Ram Charan from the beginning.

Ram Charan’s physical transformation has become a major talking point. What went into it?
Director Buchi Babu: Charan worked very hard for this role. He trained in wrestling for several months and completely surrendered himself to the character. The film shows three stages in Peddi’s life, and we designed each look carefully. But Charan went beyond our expectations.

Did he face any difficulties during the shoot?
Director Buchi Babu: Yes, he suffered injuries while shooting, especially during wrestling scenes. One incident even caused an eye injury and made the team very worried. But Charan continued with full dedication.

What can audiences expect from Janhvi Kapoor’s role?
Director Buchi Babu: Janhvi Kapoor is one of the biggest strengths of the film. Her performance brings freshness and warmth, especially in the romantic portions.

How was it working with AR Rahman?
Director Buchi Babu: Working with Rahman sir was a dream come true. Two more songs are yet to be discovered by the audience, and I believe they will become major highlights after release.

Why did you avoid releasing more promotional material despite the huge buzz?
Director Buchi Babu: Some emotions should be experienced directly in theatres. I wanted the audience to discover those powerful moments on the big screen instead of seeing everything in trailers.

Is the popular song “Abbani Thiyyani Debba” part of the film?
Director Buchi Babu: No, it is only heard briefly on a radio. Later, we muted it because we felt it might distract from the story.

After watching the final copy, how do you feel?
Director Buchi Babu: I genuinely feel we have made a very good film.

What is your final message to the audience?
Director Buchi Babu: Come with your family and enjoy Peddi in theatres. The emotions, action, drama, and heart of the film will stay with you even after the movie ends.
