Laya’s Talks in Exclusive Interview About Her Grand Return in Thammudu

Laya’s Talks in Exclusive Interview About Her Grand Return in Thammudu

Laya, what made Thammudu the perfect comeback film for you?
Thammudu felt like the right film for my return to the screen because of its unique take on the brother-sister relationship, a theme rarely explored in this way. After learning about the role of Jhansi Kiranmayee, I knew it would be a perfect fit for my comeback, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

Can you share more about your character in Thammudu?
I play Jhansi Kiranmayee, a strict and responsible officer balancing her professional and personal life. She’s a no-nonsense woman who takes charge, and though she doesn’t speak often, when she does, her words carry weight. It’s a character unlike any I’ve played before, and it allowed me to show a different side of myself.

You mentioned the difficult conditions during the shoot. Can you share some memorable moments?
The shoot in the forest was challenging. We had to deal with harsh conditions, like shooting barefoot on rough terrain. The team, including the director, fell ill at times, but everyone remained committed to pushing through. Those tough moments will stay with me forever, but they also brought the team closer.

How was your experience working with Nithiin in Thammudu?
Nithiin was wonderful to work with. Despite his star status, he remained humble and approachable, connecting with everyone on set. His performance in the film shows a more mature side of him, and it was a pleasure to share the screen with him.

How do you feel about the evolution of film promotions and the industry today?
The industry has changed so much since I first began. In the past, promotions were simpler, focusing on audio functions and milestone celebrations. Now, we have big promotional events and deeper engagement with the audience. I’m thrilled to take on roles that have depth and meaning, roles that will leave a lasting impact.

What sets Thammudu apart from other Tollywood films?
The brother-sister relationship in Thammudu is something unique. It’s a dynamic that’s not often explored in Indian cinema, and it really adds a fresh layer to the story. Every character has a significant role to play, making the film stand out.

What’s next for you in terms of future projects?
I’m excited about taking on meaningful roles, whether it's as a sister or a mother. I want my characters to leave a lasting impression. Currently, I’m working on a project with Shivaji, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I haven’t signed any other films yet but am actively looking for roles with strong narratives.

How does it feel to return to Hyderabad for your career?
Hyderabad is home to me, no matter where I’ve lived. I’m so happy to be back, working in Tollywood once again. It feels amazing to be in the city I love, and I look forward to continuing my career here.

Any final words for your fans?
Thank you to all my fans for the warm welcome back. Your support means the world to me, and I’m excited to share my journey with you all. Stay tuned for what’s next!
