How has your journey with Sigma been?
Faria Abdullah: Sigma is my first Tamil film, and I’m happy to make my debut with Lyca Productions. It’s a commercial action-adventure heist comedy with a talented cast and crew. I play a radio jockey, a different character for me, and the role gave me a chance to show a wide range of emotions. Families can enjoy the film together.

Since Mathu Vadalara, you seem to be taking more interest in action. Is that true?
Faria Abdullah: Action suits my personality, and I enjoy doing it. I also want to work in all kinds of films.

How is your chemistry with Sundeep Kishan in the film?
Faria Abdullah: I’ve known Sundeep for a long time. We had wanted to do a film together, and it finally happened with Sigma. There’s something fresh about both our characters.

What was your reaction when Jason Sanjay narrated the story?
Faria Abdullah: Jason narrated the story over a Zoom call. After hearing it, I asked his age and was surprised when he said he was 24. I found that inspiring. He is Vijay’s son, but he never makes you feel conscious of that. He is humble and friendly with everyone.

He has a clear vision and a strong command of direction, even though this is his first film. He handled the set calmly. I’ve also received a lot of affection in the Tamil industry. Sundeep and Jason are loved there, and some of that warmth has come my way too.

Rajamouli launched the trailer. What feedback did he give?
Faria Abdullah: He said it looked like a good commercial entertainer and felt that we must have had fun making it. We really did enjoy the shoot. I’d love to do Sigma 2 if audiences embrace this film, although this story reaches its conclusion here.

Have you noticed any differences between the Tamil and Telugu film industries?
Faria Abdullah: The industries feel much the same to me. The food habits are a little different. I’m happy to enter Tamil cinema with a project like Sigma.

What did you think of Thaman’s music?
Faria Abdullah: Thaman’s background score is on another level; you can recognise his signature style. There’s a Sigma-style song towards the end of the film, and I had a great time shooting it. The songs reaching audiences has been an advantage for me.

How do you feel about Mythri releasing the film?
Faria Abdullah: I’m very happy. This is my second film associated with them.

Are you interested in directing?
Faria Abdullah: Yes, I’m interested and have been writing a few stories. I need more time before taking that step. If I direct a film, I’d like to act in it too.

Have you received any new offers in Tamil?
Faria Abdullah: I’ve heard a few scripts. I’ll make a decision about them after Sigma releases.
