Akash Goparaju Interview: Kotha Malupu Has Unexpected Twists

Akash Goparaju Interview: Kotha Malupu Has Unexpected Twists

How is Kotha Malupu different from your debut film Sarkaru Noukari?
Akash: Sarkaru Noukari was a period drama, but Kotha Malupu belongs to a completely different genre. This is a village-based romantic love-and-suspense entertainer set in the scenic Konaseema region. The film has love, comedy, emotions and a strong suspense element that keeps the story interesting. I believe audiences will get a fresh cinematic experience. Veteran director A. Kodandarami Reddy garu suggested the title, and it perfectly matches the story.

Tell us about your character in the film.
Akash: My character in Kotha Malupu is energetic and relatable to today’s youth. It reflects the emotions, mindset and attitude of young people. Compared to my first film, I worked much harder on my performance this time. I focused especially on my body language, expressions and screen presence. I also received guidance from senior actors and useful suggestions from my mother, which helped me improve as an actor.

What attracted you most to this story?
Akash: When director Shiva Varaprasad narrated the story, the twists impressed me a lot. My character is fun, lively and entertaining, and I connected with it immediately. True to the title Kotha Malupu, which means “new twist,” the film has several unexpected turns that audiences may not be able to predict. The director has also beautifully captured the natural beauty of Konaseema while adding strong commercial elements to the story.

How helpful was the support of Mythri Movie Distributors?
Akash: Mythri Movie Distributors has been a big strength for our film. When a reputed distribution company supports a film, it increases confidence among audiences. They came forward because they believed in our content. Their support will definitely help Kotha Malupu reach more people and get wider visibility.

Tell us about your chemistry with heroine Bhairavi Ardya.
Akash: In the film, Bhairavi Ardya and I play cousins in a village backdrop. Our characters share a fun bava-maradalu relationship. The love story, playful arguments and entertaining moments between us will connect well with audiences. The director felt that our pairing looked fresh and appealing on screen.

What was your mother Sunitha’s reaction after watching the film?
Akash: My mother was very happy after watching the film. She felt the output came out really well and strongly believes audiences will enjoy it. When it comes to my career, she gives me complete freedom to choose scripts. At the same time, she always encourages and supports me. Even during the promotions of Kotha Malupu, she has been a huge source of strength for me.

What can you say about the production values of the film?
Akash: Producer Thati Balakrishna garu never compromised on quality. He made sure that everything required for the story was provided. Special care was taken to present the beauty of Konaseema in a grand yet natural way. Though this is not a big-budget film, every frame reflects quality production values. Audiences will definitely notice the quality on screen.

Tell us about the supporting cast and technical team.
Akash: Senior actors like Raghu Babu, Prithviraj and Prabhavathi played important roles in the film. Their experience added great value to the project. Music director Yashwanth Nag has given excellent songs and a powerful background score that elevate the film’s emotions and suspense.

What would you like to tell audiences about Kotha Malupu, releasing on June 12?
Akash: Kotha Malupu is a complete family-oriented love-and-suspense entertainer. It has village charm, romance, comedy, emotions and suspense in the right balance. We worked on this film with great dedication and passion. I sincerely request audiences to watch Kotha Malupu in theatres on June 12 and bless us with their support.

Kotha Malupu Promises Romance, Suspense And Family Emotions
After making his debut with Sarkaru Noukari, Akash Goparaju is now returning with a completely different story through Kotha Malupu. With its Konaseema backdrop, emotional love story, suspenseful twists and family-friendly entertainment, the film has created good buzz among Telugu movie lovers. The team is confident that the film will connect with audiences when it releases in theatres on June 12.
