Actress Malavika Interview About Her Role in O Bhama Ayyayo Rama and Journey into Telugu Cinema

How did you get the role in O Bhama Ayyayo Rama?
Malavika: "Director Ram noticed my performance in the Tamil film Jo and chose me for this project. When I heard the script, I immediately connected with it and loved it."

Can you describe your role as Satyabhama?
Malavika: "Satyabhama is a modern, high-energy character full of attitude, very different from the simple village girl roles I've played before. It's a versatile role, and I’m excited to portray such a character, which every actress would dream of."

Did you prepare in any specific way for your role in the film?
Malavika: "I didn’t do any specific preparation for the role. Since the character is very different from my real personality, I focused more on understanding the emotions and performing accordingly. Though I didn’t know Telugu, I still managed to connect with the character."

What was your experience like working in Telugu cinema for the first time?
Malavika: "It was an amazing experience. The entire team, from technicians to co-artists, was highly professional. Aside from the language barrier, I didn’t face any issues, and I felt very comfortable on set."

Did you face any challenges while filming?
Malavika: "Yes, there was a swimming scene, and I didn’t know how to swim. It was a bit scary, but I didn’t want to delay the shoot. Overcoming my fear and doing it was challenging, but ultimately very satisfying."

Have you started picking up Telugu during the film shoot?
Malavika: "Yes, I started learning Telugu while shooting for this film. I can understand it better now, and I also watch Telugu-dubbed movies. I recently watched HIT 3."

How was your experience working with Suhas and the rest of the team?
Malavika: "Suhas is a focused and hardworking actor, always keeping to himself on set. Working with directors like Harish Shankar and Maruthi was a wonderful experience. Producer Harish is very passionate about his work, and he made sure the film looked beautiful and rich."

Can you tell us a bit about your family background?
Malavika: "I come from a non-film family, but they’ve been very supportive. They were a little concerned in the beginning, but after watching the trailer, they are proud and happy about my debut."

What do you consider when choosing roles?
Malavika: "I’ve received many offers, but I only take roles that I genuinely connect with and feel comfortable portraying. I started with Malayalam films, did Jo in Tamil, and now I’m making my Telugu debut with O Bhama Ayyayo Rama."

Are you open to taking up glamorous roles in future films?
Malavika: "I don’t have any strict rules when it comes to glamorous roles. If I like the story and feel comfortable with the character, I’m open to it. However, if the role doesn’t suit me or I don’t connect with it, I won’t take it up."
