Sarath Chandra Naidu Interview: Journey from Marketing to Producer

Sarath Chandra Naidu Interview: Journey from Marketing to Producer

Your first production, Gurthukosthunnayi, has been well received. How does it feel to begin your journey as a producer?
Sarath Chandra Naidu: It has been a wonderful experience. After working behind the scenes for many years in film marketing, stepping into production is a dream come true. The audience's response to Gurthukosthunnayi has been overwhelming and has given me the confidence to continue telling meaningful stories.

You also contributed to the writing of the series. How involved were you in the creative process?
Sarath Chandra Naidu: I worked closely with director Vinod and the writing team, contributing to several portions of the script. Since I have spent years understanding audience preferences through marketing, I wanted to ensure the emotions and storytelling felt genuine. It was a collaborative process, and I'm happy with how everything came together.

How did the idea for Gurthukosthunnayi originate?
Sarath Chandra Naidu: The journey started with my Instagram podcast page, Relangi Mavayya, where I narrate nostalgic stories from the 1990s. The page gradually built a strong audience, especially among people who connected with those memories. After watching the content, Sai Garu and Nitin Garu from ETV Win felt those nostalgic emotions could be developed into a web series. That conversation eventually led to the creation of Gurthukosthunnayi.

Allu Arjun publicly congratulated you on your debut as a producer. What did that support mean to you?
Sarath Chandra Naidu: It meant a lot to me. I have worked with Allu Arjun Garu for many years, and receiving his encouragement at such an important stage of my career was truly special. His support reflects the trust and relationships built over time. It motivates me to continue working hard and deliver meaningful content.

Did your background in film marketing help you while producing the series?
Sarath Chandra Naidu: Absolutely. Marketing taught me how audiences think, what emotions connect with them, and how stories should be presented. That understanding helped me make creative decisions throughout the project—from writing and production to positioning the series for viewers. It gave me a broader perspective as a producer.
