Producer Koteswara Rao Interview: Purushaha Is Made For Theatre Fun

Can you tell us about your background?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: My name is Battula Koteswara Rao, and I come from Karampudi in Guntur district. I had no previous connection with the film industry. But after entering cinema, everyone has supported me very well. This journey feels like a positive and happy step in my life.

Why did you name your son Pavan Kalyan?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: After watching Gokulamlo Seetha, I felt Pawan Kalyan garu would reach great heights. At that age, I saw myself in him and became his admirer. I always wished that if I had a son, I would name him after Pawan Kalyan garu. During the time of Thammudu, my son was born, and I named him Pavan Kalyan.

Whose idea was it to enter films?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: I always loved cinema. My son was very shy and reserved, so I felt this journey would help him overcome his hesitation. Becoming a hero was my dream, and I wanted to fulfil that dream through my son. That is why I introduced him as the lead actor.

How did director Veeru Vulavala come into this project?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: Before Purushaha, we planned a film with another director, but it did not work out. Later, Satish Muthyala garu introduced us to Veeru Vulavala garu. He narrated the story, and I liked it very much. After that, we converted our construction office into a film office.

What did you like most about Purushaha?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: The story of Purushaha is very good, and the narration is also different. I especially liked the love story in the film. This movie will connect with all sections of audiences. I did not make it for money or profits. My main wish was to help my son overcome his shyness and hesitation.

What can you say about the characters in the film?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: VTV Ganesh garu’s role will make everyone laugh. He supported us a lot, especially with dates. Vennela Kishore garu’s character brings the main conflict in the story. Saptagiri has performed very well, and Kasireddy Raj Kumar garu also acted nicely. The heroines look beautiful and performed well. Ananth Sriram garu’s role will be special. About my son, I will not say anything now; audiences should watch the film and decide.

How is the music of Purushaha?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: Shravan garu gave us very good music. We are lucky that M.M. Keeravani garu sang a song for our film. The songs released so far have already received a good response from listeners.

How many theatres will Purushaha release in?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: We are releasing Purushaha in around 300 theatres. From May 21, we are also planning premieres in both Telugu states. Our film is made for audiences to sit comfortably in theatres and enjoy every moment.

Did you face any difficulties during this journey?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: Everyone who worked on Purushaha, from car drivers to light men, supported us sincerely. They treated our money carefully and helped us wherever possible. I did not face any bad experience or pressure. This entire journey felt smooth and positive.

What are your next plans?
Producer Battula Koteswara Rao: I promised my son that I would produce three films for him. If he proves himself as a hero by then, we will continue. Otherwise, I told him we would return to our village and continue farming. Within my capacity, I will definitely make three films for him.
