Exclusive Interview: Salman Khan on His Role as Colonel B Santosh Babu in Battle of Galwan

How is your preparation progressing for Battle of Galwan?
Salman Khan
: "It's been slow so far. I’m still getting used to it. The cold water in Ladakh really hits you, and shooting in extreme conditions is tough. But I’m confident that once I get there, it will all be worth it."

Can you share more about the physical challenges you're facing for this role?
Salman Khan: "The physical demands are immense, especially with Ladakh’s freezing terrain. I’m focusing on strength training, cardio, and preparing my body for the high altitude. It’s a tough role, and I’m giving it my all to adapt to these challenging conditions."

What does your fitness routine look like for this role?
Salman Khan: "I’ve made significant changes to my routine. I’ve cut out alcohol and junk food, reduced carbs, and eliminated fizzy drinks. My focus is on weight training and cardio to get into peak condition. I’m also using a high-pressure chamber to simulate high-altitude conditions and prepare for the rugged environment."

How has the experience been shooting in Ladakh?
Salman Khan: "Shooting in Ladakh is challenging, to say the least. The cold is unbearable at times, and the terrain is tough. But the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings provides a huge source of motivation for the role. The landscape really adds to the experience."

You recently revealed your first look for Battle of Galwan. Can you tell us about the transformation for the role?
Salman Khan: "The first look is just a glimpse into my portrayal of Colonel B Santosh Babu. I wanted to look rugged and battle-worn to truly reflect the harsh reality of the Galwan Valley clash. It’s physically demanding, and I’m working hard to ensure that the portrayal is as authentic as possible."

What motivated you to take on such a physically challenging role?
Salman Khan: "The bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought in the Galwan Valley were my primary inspiration. Portraying a real-life hero like Colonel B Santosh Babu is a true honor. I wanted to do justice to his story and give it my all, so the audience can feel the depth of his sacrifice."

Could you share some behind-the-scenes moments from the shoot?
Salman Khan: "The most challenging part is definitely the cold. However, the camaraderie on set makes it all worthwhile. We’re all motivated by the significance of the film and the importance of telling such a heroic story. It’s a powerful experience, and we’re giving it everything we have."
