Venezuela Earthquake: Child Rescued Alive After Six Days Under Rubble

A three-year-old boy was rescued alive from the rubble in Venezuela’s La Guaira state, six days after powerful twin earthquakes caused widespread destruction across the country.

The child, identified as Klieber Moran, was pulled out by a Jordanian rescue team from the debris of the Los Corales Garden 1 building early on Tuesday. Rescue workers cheered as the boy was found alive, before giving him first aid and shifting him to a hospital in Caracas for treatment.

A Rare Moment Of Hope Amid Disaster

The rescue has brought a rare moment of relief to Venezuela, where search teams continue to dig through collapsed buildings in the hope of finding more survivors.

Venezuelan officials said the boy survived for nearly six days under the rubble. While some officials described him as three years old, others referred to him as two. Authorities said he was receiving medical care after the rescue.

National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez said the rescue showed that teams must continue searching for people who may still be alive beneath the debris.

Twin Quakes Devastated Venezuela

Venezuela was struck by two powerful earthquakes last Wednesday, with reported magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. The tremors hit less than a minute apart and caused severe damage in La Guaira and nearby areas, including parts of Caracas.

The disaster has killed nearly 2,000 people, injured thousands, and left many more missing. Rescue workers from several countries have joined local teams in the search operation, even as aftershocks, damaged roads, and unstable buildings slow down relief work.

Massive Building Damage Reported

Preliminary satellite analysis suggests that more than 58,000 buildings may have been damaged or destroyed by the earthquakes. Rescue teams are using satellite imagery, thermal equipment, and ground searches to identify possible survivor locations.

NASA has also said satellite data is helping relief teams assess damage and guide emergency response efforts in the worst-hit areas.

Another Survivor Found Earlier

The rescue of Klieber Moran came after another survivor, 21-year-old Aaron Levi Cantillo Vargas, was reportedly pulled alive from the rubble after spending more than 100 hours trapped under a collapsed building.

However, officials say the chances of finding survivors decrease with every passing day. Despite this, rescue teams continue to search damaged neighbourhoods as families wait for news of missing relatives.

Relief Efforts Continue

Emergency shelters have been set up for displaced families, while medical teams are treating the injured and working to prevent disease outbreaks in crowded relief centres.

The rescue of the young boy has become a symbol of hope for Venezuela, even as the country faces one of its worst natural disasters in recent years.
