Patliputra Junction Train Crowd Stops Family With Confirmed AC Tickets

Family With Toddler Misses Train Despite Confirmed AC Tickets

A family travelling with a one-year-old child missed the Seemanchal Express at Bihar’s Patliputra Junction despite having confirmed AC 2 Tier tickets, after heavy crowding allegedly blocked access to their coach.

The incident has raised fresh questions about passenger safety and crowd management at railway stations, especially when reserved coach entry is blocked by heavy platform crowds.

Passenger Says Coach Entry Was Blocked

The matter came to light after Rahul Kumar Pandey shared a video on X showing chaotic scenes near Train No. 12488 Seemanchal Express at Patliputra Junction.

According to Pandey, he was travelling with his wife and their one-year-old child when they were unable to board the train despite having confirmed AC 2 Tier tickets. He claimed that hundreds of students had occupied the coach entrances and that the doors of the A2 coach were not opened.

Family Misses Journey Despite Confirmed Tickets

Pandey said the platform situation was completely chaotic and that his family could not reach the reserved coach entrance. He also claimed there was no effective assistance from Railway Protection Force personnel or railway staff despite the situation being out of control.

The passenger said the ordeal was more difficult because his one-year-old baby was crying throughout the incident. He questioned the purpose of paying for a confirmed AC ticket if passengers cannot even enter their coach.

Passenger Seeks Refund And Accountability

Pandey said his family had reached the station on time but still missed the journey due to crowding and lack of access to the coach. He requested a full refund and accountability from railway authorities.

The video soon gained attention on social media, with many users sharing similar complaints about overcrowding on trains, especially during examination seasons and peak travel periods.

Railways Responds To Complaint

After the post went viral, Railway Seva responded to the complaint online. The matter was later forwarded to the Divisional Railway Manager, Danapur.

The DRM office also acknowledged the issue and said concerned ticket-checking staff and Railway Protection Force personnel were instructed to check the coach for unauthorised passengers.

Overcrowding Concern Returns To Focus

The incident has again highlighted the challenges faced by genuine reserved ticket holders when railway crowd control measures fall short. It has also raised concerns over coach access, platform management and passenger safety during crowded travel periods.

For many passengers, the case has brought back a familiar question: what is the value of a confirmed ticket if a traveller cannot even board the train?
