Naidu Says Amaravati Will Take Shape In Three Years

God Gave Me Another Chance, I Won’t Let Amaravati Down: CM Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Amaravati will take shape within the next three years, with the government focusing first on completing key administrative buildings.

Naidu Sets Three-Year Target For Amaravati

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said Amaravati will begin taking full shape in the next three years, after which the capital city’s development will continue in a self-sustaining manner.

Speaking during an informal interaction at the Secretariat in Vijayawada on Tuesday, Naidu outlined his vision for Amaravati and said the government is working with a fixed timeline to complete major government buildings.

According to Naidu, once the core administrative infrastructure is completed, Amaravati will expand naturally like other major cities.

Amaravati Remains A Key Political Issue

Amaravati has remained one of the most politically sensitive issues in Andhra Pradesh since the State’s bifurcation. The capital project has seen strong political debate, changes in policy direction, and concerns over funding and execution.

Naidu said his government is committed to taking the project forward despite these challenges.

Amaravati Envisioned As A Global City

Naidu said Amaravati is being planned as one of the most beautiful, liveable and well-designed cities in the world. He described the capital as a fresh greenfield city with natural advantages, including the Krishna River, surrounding hills, and vast agricultural land.

“There are hills all around, the Krishna River next to it. Three lakh acres of farmland surround the city. Just imagine. You have not seen such a fresh city anywhere else in the world,” Naidu said.

The Chief Minister said the State is also seeking cooperation from the Singapore government for Amaravati’s development. He added that the city is being planned as “Hyderabad plus”, drawing comparisons with the growth of Cyberabad.

‘God Gave Me Another Chance’

Referring to the earlier opposition to Amaravati, Naidu said he has received another opportunity to complete the capital project.

“God has given me another chance. I will not let it down,” he said.

Naidu asserted that Amaravati’s construction will not stop despite challenges related to funding and implementation. He said the project remains one of the government’s top priorities.

The project’s progress, however, will depend on funding, approvals, and execution timelines.

Amaravati Economy To Grow Through Migration

The Chief Minister said Amaravati’s economy will grow through migration, similar to Hyderabad and Bengaluru. He said new institutions, government offices, infrastructure, and private investment will help create long-term economic activity in the region.

Naidu said his experience in building Cyberabad will help him in developing Amaravati. He recalled that during the development of Cyberabad, the government had faced serious challenges related to water and electricity.

“Now I do not have those problems,” he said.

Polavaram And Irrigation Projects Remain Priority

Naidu also said the Polavaram project is a priority for the State government. He added that irrigation projects across Andhra Pradesh are being strengthened to protect the State from future water shortages.

The Chief Minister said Amaravati’s development, irrigation security, and infrastructure expansion are part of the government’s larger plan for Andhra Pradesh.

TDP Backs Delimitation And One Nation One Election

On delimitation, Naidu said the Telugu Desam Party fully supports the delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies and the One Nation One Election proposal.

He said that if the number of seats is increased by 50 percent in each State, no region would face injustice.

Naidu’s remarks underline the Andhra Pradesh government’s renewed push to develop Amaravati as the State capital. With a three-year target for government buildings, Singapore cooperation, and a focus on long-term economic growth, the Chief Minister has projected Amaravati as a major future urban centre for Andhra Pradesh.
