Union Ministers and Chief Ministers attending the BRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi are expected to travel together in a single bus from Parliament to Bharat Mandapam, according to sources familiar with the logistical arrangements.

The participating leaders will reportedly assemble at Parliament before beginning their journey to the summit venue. However, the precise gathering and departure timings have not yet been finalised. Detailed security and movement plans are also awaiting confirmation.

The common transportation arrangement is designed to prevent several individual convoys from travelling through the capital at the same time. Officials expect the measure to reduce traffic pressure, limit road restrictions and allow commuters to move through the city with fewer disruptions during the international event.

Major political and diplomatic events in New Delhi often require extensive security measures, temporary road closures and traffic diversions. The movement of Union Ministers and Chief Ministers in separate convoys could add pressure to important roads connecting Parliament with Bharat Mandapam.

Under the proposed plan, the leaders would travel collectively after assembling at Parliament. This would reduce the number of official vehicles and security convoys operating along the route.

Sources said the arrangement reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on ensuring that major government programmes and the movement of senior leaders cause minimum inconvenience to the public. The plan is expected to support smoother traffic flow while maintaining the required security protocols.

The coordinated journey could also help Delhi Police and other agencies manage the route more efficiently. With fewer convoys, authorities may be able to reduce the duration and extent of traffic restrictions imposed around the summit venue.

India will host the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, 2026. The event marks India’s fourth BRICS Chairship.

India’s 2026 Chairship is guided by the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The theme highlights the country’s focus on institutional effectiveness, sustainable development, technological innovation and stronger cooperation among member nations.

The summit is also expected to place the concerns and aspirations of the Global South at the centre of discussions. India is seeking to strengthen BRICS as a constructive and solutions-oriented platform capable of addressing shared economic and developmental challenges.

BRICS has developed into an important platform for coordination among major emerging economies. Member countries use the forum to discuss global governance, economic policy, trade, finance, technology and sustainable development.

The grouping also allows emerging economies to build common positions on reforms to multilateral institutions and seek greater representation for developing nations in international decision-making.

People-to-people exchanges and practical cooperation are also part of the BRICS agenda. As preparations enter their final stage, the proposed single-bus movement of Indian ministers and chief ministers reflects the organisers’ focus on security, efficiency and public convenience during the high-profile summit.
