Yamini Bhaskar Interview on Playing a Strong Independent Woman in Psyche Siddharth
How did you get involved with Psyche Siddharth, and what drew you to the role?
Yamini Bhaskar: "After Narthanasala, I took a break for two years, reflecting on roles that would push me as an actor. A friend, connected to Varun, narrated the story during a walk. The character of a divorced woman raising a child was something fresh, strong, and powerful that I had never portrayed before. It immediately intrigued me."
You’ve mentioned that this is a strong female role. What makes it stand out for you?
Yamini Bhaskar: "The character of Sravya is incredibly strong and independent. She gave me a lot of emotional depth to work with, and I believe this role will help me grow as an actress. It’s a performance-driven role, and I am confident it will open more doors for me after its release."
Some viewers have compared the visuals to Arjun Reddy. What’s your take on that?
Yamini Bhaskar: "I understand why people might make that comparison, especially with the visual style. However, Psyche Siddharth is a completely different story. The characters and the narrative are distinct, and it stands on its own."
Can you tell us about your character and the love story in the film?
Yamini Bhaskar: "I play Sravya, a woman who breaks free from a toxic relationship to live independently. Siddharth, who is also dealing with heartbreak, moves to a basti where our paths cross. What follows is a natural, emotional love story that I believe audiences will relate to on a personal level."
What was it like working with Sri Nandu?
Yamini Bhaskar: "Nandu is a genuinely respectful and humble person. He treats everyone, especially women, with the utmost respect. It was a joy working with him, and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing the screen with him."
What was your reaction after watching the final cut of the film?
Yamini Bhaskar: "The final result was amazing. We were all overjoyed with how it turned out. Seeing our poster at Ramanaidu Studios was a very emotional moment for us all."
What was the production experience like?
Yamini Bhaskar: "The producers were incredibly supportive. I had to stay on a diet during the shoot, so I carried homemade food, which kept me comfortable. We shot most of the scenes on location, and the entire atmosphere was creative and fun."
How did the teaser and trailer fare with the audience?
Yamini Bhaskar: "The response has been fantastic. I’ve received messages from friends saying they were thrilled to see me back. The teaser gave me a boost of confidence, and I’ve decided to take my film career more seriously now. I’m also open to OTT projects if they offer strong roles."
Having worked with Pawan Kalyan before, what was that experience like?
Yamini Bhaskar: "My first scene with him was incredibly memorable. He spoke to me for almost 15 minutes about my journey. He’s humble, down-to-earth, and a pleasure to work with. Katamarayudu was a special project for me, and I have deep respect for him."
Any final message for your fans?
Yamini Bhaskar: "Thank you all for your love and support. I am really excited for everyone to watch Psyche Siddharth on December 12. I hope my character resonates with you, and you enjoy the movie as much as we enjoyed making it."
