Bhagyashri Borse Interview About Her Role as Kumari in Kaantha with Dulquer Salmaan

How does it feel to play Kumari in Kaantha?
Bhagyashri Borse
: "Playing Kumari is a blessing. It's a performance-driven role that allowed me to deeply explore my emotions. I consider myself lucky to have been given such a strong and complex character so early in my career."

What was your reaction when you first heard the story of Kaantha?
Bhagyashri Borse: "I was immediately excited when I heard the story. It has such emotional depth, and working alongside Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati made the experience even more special."

What kind of preparation did you do for Kumari’s role?
Bhagyashri Borse: "Since the film is set in the 1960s, I did a lot of homework. I watched old Telugu and Tamil films to study the acting styles of legends like Savitri garu and Sridevi garu. This helped me understand the emotional expressions and mannerisms of that era."

Was Kaantha your first signed film?
Bhagyashri Borse: "Technically, Kaantha was the first film I signed, but due to production delays, I worked on two other projects before it began."

How was the shooting experience for Kaantha?
Bhagyashri Borse: "The shoot was fantastic. The team was like a family, and the atmosphere was creative and friendly. It’s been a special journey since 2023, and I’m grateful for the experience."

What was your experience like working with Rana Daggubati?
Bhagyashri Borse: "Rana sir is extremely passionate about cinema. He’s so focused and dedicated, and I learned a lot from his professionalism. His energy and commitment to the film were truly inspiring."

Can you share your thoughts on director Selvamani Selvaraj and his approach to the film?
Bhagyashri Borse: "Selvamani sir is a brilliant storyteller. His kindness and attention to detail in developing Kumari’s character made my job easier. His approach to storytelling made my performance feel natural."

You’ve worked with several big names in the industry. How has that experience been?
Bhagyashri Borse: "It’s been an honor to work with talented actors like Ravi Teja, Vijay Deverakonda, and now Dulquer Salmaan. They’ve all been supportive and kind, and I’m learning a lot from them."

How do you feel about having Kaantha and Andhra King releasing around the same time?
Bhagyashri Borse: "It’s a thrilling but nerve-wracking feeling. Both films are very different from each other, but I’ve given my best to both, and I hope the audience enjoys them."

What do you hope to achieve with Kaantha as an actor?
Bhagyashri Borse: "I hope to be recognized as a performer, not just as a commercial actress. Kaantha has given me the chance to showcase my acting skills and connect deeply with my character."

Tell us about the music and production of Kaantha.
Bhagyashri Borse: "The music is wonderful, especially the dance number, which I absolutely love. The production quality is top-notch, thanks to Dulquer sir and Rana sir, who are passionate about cinema and storytelling."

Are you open to acting in films in other languages?
Bhagyashri Borse: "Definitely. For an actor, language is not a barrier. If the script is strong, I’m open to any project. But my heart will always be with Telugu cinema."

What are your upcoming projects after Kaantha?
Bhagyashri Borse: "I have several upcoming projects in both Telugu and Hindi that I’m excited about. Each project will offer a unique challenge and help me grow as an actor."

How do Kaantha and Andhra King differ from each other?
Bhagyashri Borse: "Kaantha is a story of emotion, art, and mythology, while Andhra King is a fan biopic. The characters I play in both films, Kumari and Mahalakshmi, are very different, but both roles are close to my heart."

Do you have any final message for your fans?
Bhagyashri Borse: "I’m truly grateful for all the love and support. I hope Kaantha resonates with everyone and that you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it."
