Exclusive Interview: Shruti Haasan Talks About Her Role and Coolie's Impact

Interviewer: Shruti, how would you describe your character in Coolie?
Shruti Haasan: Working with Rajinikanth sir has been an absolute blessing. My character is very close to me, and I believe the audience, especially women, will connect deeply with it. The role is filled with raw emotion and has been beautifully crafted by the director. It’s something I’m very proud of.

Interviewer: Is your character the daughter of Rajinikanth in Coolie?
Shruti Haasan: No, I actually play the daughter of Sathyaraj garu in the movie, not Rajinikanth sir’s daughter.

Interviewer: How was it working with such a powerful cast like Nagarjuna and Upendra?
Shruti Haasan: It was an incredible experience. I’ve worked with many stars before, but this was truly special. It’s not every day that an actor gets to be part of such a powerful ensemble. This film is unlike anything I’ve done before.

Interviewer: What was it about the story that made you say yes when Lokesh Kanagaraj first pitched it?
Shruti Haasan: I initially met Lokesh for a different project—a music album. But when he introduced this character to me, I was immediately drawn to it. Even though his films typically explore darker, action-packed themes, this strong female character stood out to me. It really resonated with me.

Interviewer: Do you think the family audience will connect with this film?
Shruti Haasan: Absolutely. Both my character and Rajinikanth sir’s role have emotional arcs that I believe will really touch family audiences. There’s a lot of heart in the story.

Interviewer: Nagarjuna is playing a villain in this film. What can you tell us about his role?
Shruti Haasan: Nagarjuna’s performance is mind-blowing. He’s playing a villain for the first time, and it’s something Telugu audiences have never seen before. It’s going to be a huge surprise for everyone.

Interviewer: How was it working with director Lokesh Kanagaraj?
Shruti Haasan: Lokesh is such a director with vision and clarity. He knows exactly what he wants from every scene, which makes working with him a joy. His direction brings out the best in every actor.

Interviewer: Do you share any screen time with Aamir Khan in this movie?
Shruti Haasan: Yes, I do. Aamir Khan is not just a colleague; he’s also a family friend. During a significant phase in my life, his family supported me. Sharing screen space with him is incredibly special to me.

Interviewer: Can you tell us about the film’s production?
Shruti Haasan: Coolie is a massive-scale film. The producers didn’t compromise on any aspect of the film. They made sure that the story had everything it needed, and the scale is something you can really feel when you watch it.

Interviewer: Have you seen the full movie yet?
Shruti Haasan: Not yet. I’ve finished my dubbing and seen portions of the film, and everything I’ve seen so far is incredible. I can’t wait to see the final product.

Interviewer: What are your thoughts on Anirudh’s music in the film?
Shruti Haasan: I’ve known Anirudh for a long time, and I’m so proud of him. His music elevates the movie to another level, and he has composed some fantastic tracks for Coolie. It’s a perfect match for the film’s energy.

Interviewer: What can you say about Girish’s cinematography?
Shruti Haasan: Girish is one of those cinematographers who truly understands the director’s vision. His work on Coolie is breathtaking. The visuals are stunning, and you can feel the intensity and emotion through his lens, just like he did in Vikram.

Interviewer: Did Rajinikanth share any interesting stories with you during the shoot?
Shruti Haasan: Yes, he shared many stories about his close friendship with my father, Kamal Haasan, and their work together over the years. Their bond is truly special, and it was fascinating to hear about their shared memories.

Interviewer: Do you have any dream roles you’d like to play?
Shruti Haasan: I don’t have a specific dream role, but as a musician myself, I’d love to play a musician on screen someday. I think it would be a natural fit for me.

Interviewer: You’ve had a long and successful career in the industry. How do you feel about that?
Shruti Haasan: It feels like a blessing. I’ve always enjoyed my work and never over-planned my career. I focus on giving my best to each project, and that’s how I’ve managed to sustain my career in the industry for so long.

Interviewer: If you had to describe Coolie in one word, what would it be?
Shruti Haasan: Coolie is a complete entertainer! It’s packed with action, deep emotions, and I’m sure the audience will enjoy every moment of it.

Interviewer: Are there any exciting projects you’re working on after Coolie?
Shruti Haasan: Last year was all about Coolie. Right now, I’m looking at new scripts and excited to work with fresh directors and writers. I’ve already heard a few Telugu scripts and will announce something soon.

Interviewer: All the best for Coolie and your upcoming projects!
Shruti Haasan: Thank you so much!
