A group of candidates appointed under the sports quota in the Andhra Pradesh District Selection Committee recruitment process has strongly objected to allegations of irregularities raised by former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSR Congress Party leaders.
The candidates maintained that their appointments were secured through the prescribed recruitment procedure and supported by valid sports certificates and other required documents. They said unverified political allegations were damaging their reputations and creating unnecessary doubts about legitimately obtained government jobs.
The YSRCP has repeatedly questioned aspects of the DSC recruitment process, including the selection of candidates under the sports quota. Party leaders have alleged that some ineligible applicants secured appointments and demanded greater scrutiny of the recruitment procedure.
Around 370 sports quota appointees reportedly participated in a roundtable meeting held in Vijayawada to discuss the allegations and their possible impact. The participants rejected claims that appointments were granted to ineligible candidates or secured through payments.
They challenged those making the allegations to produce evidence and submit it before the appropriate authorities. The candidates said they were prepared to present their certificates and supporting records for verification if required.
Participants also rejected suggestions that appointments involving two members of the same family should automatically be treated as suspicious. They argued that every applicant must be assessed individually based on eligibility, sporting achievements, certificates and recruitment rules.
The appointees urged political parties not to use the DSC recruitment process for electoral or political purposes. They said broad allegations could unfairly affect hundreds of candidates who had spent years developing their sporting careers and preparing for government employment.
The group warned that it would respond through appropriate channels if unsupported statements continued to target sports quota employees. It also asked leaders to distinguish between specific complaints requiring investigation and general accusations against an entire category of appointees.
The controversy has added a new dimension to the political debate over DSC recruitment in Andhra Pradesh. While the YSRCP continues to demand accountability over alleged irregularities, sports quota candidates insist that their appointments are legitimate and backed by proper documentation. Any specific complaint will ultimately need to be examined through official verification and the applicable legal process.
