Hyderabad, Telangana — IMD has forecast thunderstorms, gusty winds and heavy rainfall in several Telangana districts, with a yellow alert issued for parts of the state.

Telangana is likely to see a wet spell, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting thunderstorms, gusty winds and heavy rainfall in several districts. A yellow alert has been issued for parts of the state as rain-bearing conditions continue after a wet weekend.

Hyderabad and nearby districts may receive thunderstorms accompanied by wind speeds of up to 50 kmph at isolated locations. The forecast has prompted authorities to advise residents to remain alert, particularly during intense spells of rain, lightning and strong winds.

The weather system is expected to affect multiple regions of Telangana over the next few days. Light to moderate rainfall is also likely across Hyderabad, while some northern districts could receive heavier showers.

The latest forecast follows sustained rainfall that began late Saturday night and continued through Sunday in several areas. Rainfall data showed that parts of Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Medak, Vikarabad and the Greater Hyderabad region received notable showers.

Telangana Heavy Rain Alert Covers Hyderabad And Nearby Districts

According to the IMD forecast, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy could witness thunderstorms and strong winds. The weather outlook also includes Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahbubabad, Warangal and Hanamkonda.

Similar weather conditions are expected to continue in many of these districts on Tuesday. Hyderabad is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall across its zones, while Wednesday may bring lighter showers and partly cloudy conditions.

A yellow alert is in place for Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts. The alert indicates the possibility of heavy rain at isolated places and calls for caution, especially in low-lying areas and locations vulnerable to waterlogging.

Residents should avoid sheltering under trees or electric poles during thunderstorms and should watch for local advisories when travelling. Motorists may encounter reduced visibility and slippery roads during heavy spells.

Telangana Heavy Rain Alert Follows Strong Weekend Showers

Rainfall data from the Telangana Development Planning Society showed significant showers in several districts. Nizampet in Sangareddy recorded 75.3 mm of rainfall, while Pitlam in Kamareddy received 61.8 mm.

Sirgapoor and Kalher in Sangareddy recorded 56 mm and 52.5 mm, respectively. In the Greater Hyderabad, Cantonment and Malkajgiri areas, Vinayaknagar in Malkajgiri received the highest reported rainfall at 52.3 mm.

Other locations also recorded rain, including Kistareddypet in Ameenpur with 24 mm and Keesara with 21.8 mm. Hyderabad recorded an average of 22.8 mm of rain overnight from Saturday, while Shaikpet and the MMTS Lingampally station recorded 43.3 mm.

Orange warnings had also been issued for Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Medak, Sangareddy and Vikarabad, where moderate to heavy rainfall was reported. These weather developments indicate that the monsoon system remains active over large parts of Telangana.

Telangana Heavy Rain Alert Linked To Bay Of Bengal System

A low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal persisted on Sunday, according to weather reports from Andhra Pradesh. The system could bring heavy rain to north coastal Andhra Pradesh and may continue to influence weather conditions in the wider region.

For Telangana, the key concern remains thunderstorms, gusty winds and localised heavy rain. Rainfall can vary sharply from one locality to another, so residents should monitor official IMD updates and district-level alerts. Commuters in Hyderabad should allow extra travel time during peak rainfall periods, as waterlogging and traffic slowdowns are possible. People living in low-lying areas should follow civic and disaster-management advisories.
