Panic spread in West Bengal’s Birbhum district on Friday, May 22, 2026, after villagers found 31 live bombs stacked near a bamboo grove close to Chander Math pond in Kot village. Locals noticed the suspicious pile near the pond bank and immediately alerted the police.

Police Begin Probe After Area Sealed

A large police team reached the spot and sealed the surrounding area to ensure public safety. Police sources confirmed that around 31 live bombs were recovered from the field. The Bomb Disposal Squad was called to safely defuse the explosives and prevent any possible accident.

The discovery created fear among residents, especially as West Bengal has recently witnessed political tension after the Assembly election results. Police have started an investigation to find out who stored the bombs in the area and why they were kept there. Search operations are also being carried out in and around the village.
