Mathurapur TMC Office Protest Over Relief Supplies
The alleged stockpiling of relief supplies has sparked fresh anger among residents, who say affected families are still waiting for help.
Relief Material Row Sparks Protest
Fresh tension erupted in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas after locals allegedly found cartons of flood relief material inside the office of TMC MP Bapi Haldar in Mathurapur. Residents claimed the supplies were meant for poor and flood-affected families but had not been distributed.
As the news spread, a crowd gathered outside the MP’s office. Protesters allegedly entered the premises, raised slogans, and carried away relief packages. The situation soon turned violent, with parts of the office reportedly vandalised.
Bengal Political Tension Grows
Police arrived at the scene and deployed personnel to bring the situation under control. No immediate injuries were reported.
The incident comes at a time when Bengal is already facing political tension after recent clashes involving TMC leaders. TMC has blamed BJP supporters for the unrest, while the BJP has denied the allegations and claimed local anger is being expressed against TMC leaders.
The Mathurapur relief material controversy has now added another flashpoint to Bengal’s post-poll unrest, keeping the political blame game between TMC and BJP in the spotlight.
