YS Jagan Targets Naidu With South Bihar Remark After AP Polls

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy criticised Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu after the YSRCP’s defeat in Andhra Pradesh’s municipal polls. The former chief minister used the phrase ‘South Bihar’ and accused the ruling TDP of interfering with the election process.

YS Jagan Targets Naidu After AP Polls

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy criticised the ruling Telugu Desam Party after the YSR Congress Party lost the municipal polls. Speaking at a press conference, Jagan directed his criticism at Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, claiming that people were calling Andhra Pradesh ‘South Bihar’ because of the state government’s actions. He said Andhra Pradesh had previously commanded greater respect and blamed Naidu for what he described as a decline in the state’s standing.

YS Jagan Alleges Poll Irregularities

Jagan questioned whether the municipal contests were “elections or selections”, alleging that the ruling party interfered at several stages. He raised concerns about the filing and scrutiny of nominations, conduct at polling booths and the counting of votes. He also claimed that irregularities affected some places where YSRCP candidates had managed to win. His criticism focused on how the election was conducted from the nomination stage through the declaration of results.

YS Jagan Accuses TDP Of Police Misuse

The former chief minister also accused the TDP of misusing the police during the election process. He alleged that the ruling party sought to control the outcome because Naidu feared losing political ground in a fair contest. Jagan’s remarks turned the YSRCP’s response to its municipal poll defeat into a direct challenge to the Naidu government over the way the local elections were conducted.
