Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has strongly defended the state’s Mega DSC teacher recruitment process, telling the Assembly that appointments were made entirely on merit without favouritism, manipulation or backdoor selections.
Naidu said the government had maintained transparency throughout the recruitment exercise and argued that the credibility of the process was reflected in the response from candidates, including those who were not selected. His remarks came as the government highlighted its approach toward transparency and accountability in public-sector recruitment.
Mega DSC Recruitment Conducted With Transparency, Says NaiduAddressing the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Naidu said the Mega District Selection Committee recruitment was designed to ensure equal opportunities for eligible teacher aspirants.
He maintained that political influence or other forms of interference were not permitted during the selection process. According to the Chief Minister, merit remained the deciding factor in appointments made through the recruitment drive.
Naidu also pointed to feedback from unsuccessful applicants, saying even candidates who could not secure positions had recognised that the selection process was conducted fairly.
The government views this acceptance among aspirants as an important measure of credibility, particularly because large government recruitment exercises often face close scrutiny over transparency and selection procedures.
Merit-Based Selection Becomes Government’s Key MessageNaidu told lawmakers that the administration had not allowed backdoor appointments, favouritism or manipulation in Mega DSC selections. He said the government wanted public appointments to be determined by eligibility and performance rather than influence.
The Chief Minister’s comments also signal a broader attempt to build confidence among young job seekers preparing for competitive government recruitment examinations.
Andhra Pradesh’s Department of School Education manages teacher-related recruitment and eligibility processes, including the Teacher Eligibility Test framework for candidates seeking teaching positions in government and other recognised schools.
Transparent Recruitment System Aims To Build Candidate TrustThe Mega DSC exercise has attracted significant attention because teacher recruitment affects thousands of aspirants as well as staffing levels in government schools across Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu said transparency would remain a guiding principle for future public appointments. The government’s stated objective is to create a recruitment environment where candidates can compete without concerns over undue influence or irregularities.
A transparent selection system is particularly important in large recruitment drives, where examinations, merit lists, certificate verification and final appointments must be handled consistently to maintain public confidence.
Teacher Recruitment Impact Extends To Government SchoolsBeyond employment opportunities, teacher recruitment is also linked to the state’s broader education goals. Filling vacancies can help schools address staffing requirements and improve the availability of teachers across different subjects and regions.
The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department says improving learning outcomes and strengthening school education remain key priorities of the state’s education system.
Naidu reiterated that merit, fairness and accountability would continue to guide government recruitment. His defence of Mega DSC places transparency at the centre of the administration’s employment policy while sending a message to future applicants that public appointments should be determined through a competitive and merit-driven process.
