Bengal Cabinet Clears Rs 3,000 Women's Aid And Free Bus Travel

Suvendu Adhikari's cabinet decisions in West Bengal have brought major welfare and policy changes, including women’s financial support, free bus travel, and the phasing out of religion-based schemes.

Women To Get Rs 3,000 Under Annapurna Yojana

The Bengal second cabinet meeting approved the Annapurna Yojana, West Bengal, under which eligible women will receive Rs 3,000 financial assistance from June 1. Women already covered under Lakshmi Bhandar will be automatically included, making this an important Lakshmi Bhandar new update. For women who are not part of the existing scheme, the government will launch a new portal to help them register and receive benefits.

Religion-Based Schemes To Be Phased Out

Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul said the cabinet has decided to discontinue Bengal religion-based schemes under the Madrasa Department and the Information & Cultural Department. However, the ongoing Madrasa department schemes in Bengal will continue until the end of the month before being gradually phased out.

Women's Free Bus Travel In Bengal

The cabinet also approved women's free bus travel in Bengal from June 1. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari also held his first Suvendu Janata Darbar at a BJP office in Salt Lake to hear public grievances. The decisions are being projected as key West Bengal BJP government schemes in the early phase of the new administration.
