NEET-UG 2026 Controversy Revives Debate Over Ignored Exam Reforms

Ignored NEET Reform Suggestions Back In Focus After NEET-UG 2026 Leak Row

The latest NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy has once again raised concerns over delayed examination reforms, especially after several recommendations made by a high-level expert committee reportedly remained unimplemented.

Following the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak allegations, the Central government had formed a committee led by former ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan to review the examination system and recommend stronger security measures. The panel submitted its report to the Education Ministry in October 2024 with multiple suggestions aimed at improving transparency, reducing malpractice, and strengthening exam security.

According to reports, the committee had recommended technology-driven reforms, including wider use of computer-based testing, advanced monitoring systems, and upgraded security protocols for national-level entrance examinations. However, many of these proposals reportedly remained only partially implemented despite repeated concerns over exam integrity.

The debate has resurfaced after the NEET-UG 2026 examination was cancelled following allegations of a large-scale paper leak. Investigators claimed that several candidates allegedly gained access to solved papers before the examination, triggering nationwide criticism of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the overall examination system.

Education experts and opposition leaders have now questioned why earlier reform suggestions were not fully implemented despite previous controversies. Many believe that stronger technological safeguards, independent audits, and tighter examination protocols could have helped reduce the risk of leaks and malpractice in highly competitive entrance examinations.

The latest controversy has intensified demands for structural reforms in India’s entrance examination system, with students and parents calling for greater transparency, accountability, and stronger security mechanisms for future exams conducted across the country.
