UDF Forms Government In Kerala

Congress leader VD Satheesan took oath as the Chief Minister of Kerala at a grand ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram. The United Democratic Front secured a strong victory by winning 102 seats in the 140-member Assembly, ending the CPI(M)-led Left government’s rule in the state. The swearing-in event was attended by senior Congress leaders, opposition-ruled state chief ministers, and several prominent political personalities.

Cabinet Ministers Take Oath

Along with Satheesan, a 20-member Council of Ministers also took oath. Senior leaders, including Ramesh Chennithala, K Muraleedharan, Sunny Joseph, PK Kunhalikutty, Shibu Baby John, Anoop Jacob, and others, were inducted into the new cabinet. The Indian Union Muslim League received five cabinet berths, with PK Kunhalikutty, PK Basheer, N Samsudheen, KM Shaji and VE Abdul Gafoor joining the government.

Key Portfolios Expected

As per reports, Satheesan is expected to retain Finance and Ports, while Ramesh Chennithala may take charge of Home and Vigilance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Satheesan and assured the Centre’s support for Kerala’s development. The report is based on India Today’s coverage.
