Monalisa Bhosle, who became widely known after her videos from the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela went viral, has submitted a fresh request for police protection in Kochi. She approached Ernakulam Central Police Station with her lawyer on Sunday evening, July 19, 2026, and claimed that her life was in danger.

The latest Monalisa Bhosle police protection request in Kochi comes amid an ongoing family dispute and separate legal proceedings involving her husband, Farmaan Khan, in Madhya Pradesh. Kochi Police said her written petition was being examined before a decision was taken on providing security.

Monalisa Approaches Ernakulam Police

Bhosle reportedly visited the Ernakulam Central Police Station, accompanied by her lawyer, and handed over a written representation seeking protection. While speaking to reporters, she said, “My life is in danger,” and requested immediate police intervention.

She also alleged that her father had taken possession of her passport and money. According to a separate report, she claimed that nearly Rs 10 lakh had been withdrawn from her bank account. These remain allegations and are expected to be examined by the authorities.

Police officials said the petition would be reviewed in consultation with senior officers, including the Kochi City Police Commissioner. No final decision on her request had been announced at the time of reporting.

Dispute Over Monalisa Bhosle’s Age

The wider dispute centres on conflicting claims concerning Bhosle’s age. Her father has maintained that she is a minor and filed a complaint against Khan in Madhya Pradesh. Police subsequently registered a kidnapping case based on the complaint.

Bhosle and Khan, however, have consistently stated that she is an adult and that their relationship and marriage were based on her consent. Documents produced before authorities in Kerala reportedly identified her as an adult, while other records cited during proceedings in Madhya Pradesh have given a different date of birth.

The Kerala High Court earlier observed that the material placed before it prima facie indicated that Bhosle was an adult. The conflicting records and allegations remain part of the continuing legal dispute.

Why Earlier Police Protection Was Withdrawn

The Kerala High Court had granted Bhosle interim police protection on June 19 after she alleged threats to her life and an online campaign of intimidation following her marriage to Khan.

However, on July 10, the court vacated the interim protection order after the Kerala government informed it that police officers had been unable to locate or contact her using the address and telephone number supplied in her petition.

The court clarified that Bhosle could submit a fresh written representation directly to the police. It said the Station House Officer concerned should consider and provide necessary protection in accordance with the law. Her latest appearance at the Ernakulam police station follows that direction.

Farmaan Khan Faces Kidnapping Proceedings

Khan is separately facing legal proceedings in the kidnapping case registered in Madhya Pradesh. On June 3, the Kerala High Court granted him one month of transit anticipatory bail, allowing him time to approach the appropriate court in Madhya Pradesh without facing immediate arrest.

A jurisdictional court in Madhya Pradesh later rejected his anticipatory bail application. On July 2, the Kerala High Court also refused to extend the earlier transit protection, observing that he had already exercised the legal opportunity granted to him.

Kochi Police Reviewing Fresh Petition

Kochi Police are now expected to examine Bhosle’s claims regarding threats to her safety, her passport, and the alleged withdrawal of money. Her petition revives a protection request that had been discontinued primarily because authorities said they could not contact her.

Further action will depend on the police assessment and consultation with senior Kochi City Police officials. The family dispute, age controversy, and kidnapping proceedings in Madhya Pradesh continue on separate but closely connected legal tracks.
