The selection process for the next Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has entered its final stage, with the contest now reportedly narrowed to three candidates. Former bureaucrats Yogeshwar Ram Mishra and Rajesh Pandey have emerged as two prominent names in contention following the completion of interviews.
A three-member panel is being prepared for submission to the temple trust, which will take the final decision on the appointment. The trust is looking for an administrator capable of handling the expanding responsibilities connected with the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya, including management, coordination and public administration.
Ram Temple CEO contenders bring administrative experience
Yogeshwar Ram Mishra is considered a strong contender because of his administrative background and experience associated with the development of the Kashi Corridor. His familiarity with large religious and infrastructure projects is expected to be an important factor during the final evaluation.
Rajesh Pandey, a former police officer with extensive service experience in Uttar Pradesh, is also among the leading contenders. He is known for handling major policing assignments during his career. Sources indicate that officers who moved into the IAS or IPS through the Provincial Civil Services route may have an advantage because of their experience working closely with state administration.
Several retired armed forces officers were also among the 16 candidates shortlisted for interviews. Their inclusion means the possibility of a retired military officer being selected for the top administrative role has not been ruled out.
Ram Temple CEO selection began with 5,585 applications
The recruitment drive attracted significant interest, with 5,585 applications received for the CEO position. Of these, 3,877 applicants submitted detailed curriculum vitae, while 1,580 applications and presentations went through further evaluation.
The selection was gradually reduced to 111 candidates for online interactions. After another round of scrutiny, 16 candidates were shortlisted for the interview stage in Ayodhya. The process has now been narrowed further to a final panel of three names.
The extensive selection process reflects the importance attached to the position as the trust manages one of India's most prominent religious destinations and prepares for growing numbers of devotees and visitors.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will make the final appointment after reviewing the three shortlisted names. Experience, integrity, administrative capability and an understanding of temple management are expected to be among the key factors considered before the final selection.
No woman has so far emerged as a leading contender among the shortlisted candidates, although the eligibility conditions for the position did not include any gender restriction.
With the interview stage complete, attention now turns to the trust's final decision. The appointment will place the selected candidate in charge of crucial administrative and management responsibilities associated with the Ram Temple and its rapidly developing pilgrimage infrastructure in Ayodhya.
