Revati Sule Delhi reception brings political rivals together
Revati Sule’s wedding reception in Delhi brought senior leaders from the government, Opposition and regional parties together at the Pawar family’s residence on Monday.
Revati, the daughter of NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule and granddaughter of party president Sharad Pawar, married Sarang Lakhani. The newlyweds welcomed guests and received their blessings during the celebration at 6, Janpath.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were among the high-profile attendees. Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi also joined the celebration with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Photographs shared from the reception showed the leaders meeting Revati, Sarang and members of the Pawar family. The images quickly gained attention because politicians who frequently oppose one another in public were seen together in a social setting.
Senior leaders attend Pawar family celebration
The guest list included RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Several chief ministers and senior representatives from national and regional parties were also present.
Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were photographed greeting the couple and speaking with members of the Pawar family.
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda shared images from the reception, including photographs with Sharad Pawar, the newlyweds, Praful Patel and Jitendra Awhad. The pictures offered a wider look at the range of political figures who attended the event.
Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule welcomed guests as they arrived throughout the evening. The reception remained a family occasion, though the gathering of leaders from competing political groups drew considerable public interest.
The wedding ceremony held a day earlier also attracted several senior politicians. Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann were reported among the attendees.
Photographs attract political attention
One image showing Prime Minister Modi, Sharad Pawar and Amit Shah seated near one another received particular attention online. The photograph emerged amid recent interactions between the NCP (SP) leadership and the central government.
However, no formal political meeting or policy discussion was announced during the reception. The presence of leaders at a private wedding celebration should not, by itself, be treated as evidence of a new political agreement or alliance.
The gathering instead reflected Sharad Pawar’s long-standing personal relationships across party lines. During his extensive political career, the NCP (SP) leader has worked and interacted with politicians from several national and regional organisations.
The reception also provided a rare setting in which political rivals could meet away from election campaigns, parliamentary debates and public rallies. Modi, Shah, the Gandhi family and regional leaders attended to congratulate the newlyweds and greet the Pawar family.
While the guest list gave the event political visibility, the focus remained on Revati and Sarang. The couple spent the evening meeting guests, posing for photographs and receiving wishes as their families hosted the celebration in Delhi.
