Kavitha Begins New Political Journey With TRS Party Launch In Telangana

K Kavitha launches Telangana Rashtra Sena on April 25, 2026, aiming to address Telangana’s unmet goals and strengthen grassroots governance after her exit from BRS.

Kavitha launches Telangana Rashtra Sena, marking a new political chapter in Telangana after her exit from BRS. Former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), officially launched her new political party, Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS), on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The launch comes months after she was suspended from the BRS over alleged anti-party activities, signalling a significant political shift in the state.

The formation of the new party was first announced in March 2026 during a press conference, where Kavitha detailed her vision for Telangana. She said the Telangana Rashtra Sena would focus on universal upliftment, welfare-driven governance, inclusive development, and self-sufficiency. According to her, the party aims to address the unmet aspirations of the people even more than a decade after Telangana achieved statehood.

Referring to the Telangana movement’s key slogan “Neellu, Nidhulu, Niyamakalu” (water, funds, and jobs), Kavitha stated that these goals remain unfulfilled even after 12 years. She alleged that successive governments have failed to meet the expectations of farmers, youth, industrialists, and marginalized communities, and stressed that her party would work towards taking governance closer to the people by addressing grassroots issues.

Kavitha also strongly criticised both the BRS and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of failing to effectively represent public concerns in Telangana. Taking a sharp swipe at her former party, she remarked that the BRS would not change its approach “even after 1,000 years” and accused it of ignoring the welfare of those who fought for the formation of Telangana.
