New York City witnessed a key engagement between India and its overseas community as Ambassador Vinay Kwatra interacted with prominent Indian diaspora leaders on April 11, 2026. Hosted by the Consulate General of India, New York, the event aimed to strengthen ties with the Indian-American community across the Tri-State region.
During the interaction, Ambassador Kwatra highlighted the growing strength of India–United States relations, emphasising cooperation in trade, technology, and people-to-people connections. He noted that India’s ongoing economic transformation is enhancing its global standing while opening new avenues for partnership.
The meeting saw participation from several prominent community leaders, including representatives of the Federation of Indian Associations and other groups. Discussions focused on deepening engagement with the diaspora, with a shared vision of contributing to growth and collaboration in both countries.
Sudhir Parikh highlighted key initiatives to expand global healthcare collaboration among Indian-origin professionals, including promoting knowledge exchange and strengthening telemedicine services for underserved regions in India. Ambassador Kwatra welcomed these efforts, recognising the diaspora’s vital role in India’s development.
