Former U.S. ambassador Nikki Haley has made a strong claim regarding a recently seized Iranian vessel, alleging that it was carrying missile-related chemical shipments originating from China. According to her statement, the ship was intercepted by the United States in the Gulf region after reportedly refusing orders to stop.
Haley stated that the vessel was travelling from China to Iran and was linked to materials that could potentially be used in missile production. She also warned that any possibility of China providing military-related support to Iran should be viewed as a serious concern amid rising geopolitical tensions.
The incident comes at a time of heightened strain between the United States and Iran, particularly following increased naval activity and restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has strongly criticised the seizure, describing it as an act of aggression, and has indicated that it may respond if tensions escalate further.
Reports also suggest that the seized vessel had previously made multiple port calls in China and was suspected of being involved in the transport of materials connected to Iran’s missile programme. Diplomatic efforts are reportedly ongoing, while uncertainty continues over the broader regional implications of the incident.
