Netrasemi A2000 AI Chip To Power Smart Devices In India
Netrasemi A2000 Chip Boosts India’s AI Push
Kerala-based semiconductor startup Netrasemi has launched its first high-end 12nm AI chip, A2000, giving a fresh boost to India’s Make in India semiconductor mission. The chip has completed its initial silicon bring-up testing, a key stage where its functions are checked before commercial production. The company plans to begin production before the end of 2026.
The A2000 is designed as an edge AI system-on-chip for devices that need fast, local intelligence. It can run AI models directly on devices without depending fully on cloud servers, making it useful for smart cameras, surveillance systems, robotics, video gateways, and other real-time AI applications.
Designed For Smart Devices
The A2000 is built on TSMC’s 12nm node and includes in-house NPU, VPU, and ISP technology for AI inference workloads. Netrasemi says the chip combines hardware acceleration with domain-specific optimisation for high-performance edge AI use.
The Zoho-backed chip startup has raised Rs 125 crore so far, with investors including Zoho and Unicorn India Ventures. Netrasemi was also selected for support under the Design Linked Incentive scheme in 2023. The launch strengthens India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and shows rising progress in on-device AI chip development.
