TMC Faces Big Trouble As Bengal Party Crisis Grows
The Bengal TMC crisis has deepened as rebel MLAs challenge the party’s Assembly control, while arrests of party-linked leaders add fresh pressure.
Rebel MLAs Challenge TMC Control
The Trinamool Congress is facing one of its biggest political tests in West Bengal as a rebel group of MLAs has challenged the party’s existing leadership structure inside the Assembly. The rebel camp, led by Ritabrata Banerjee, has claimed the support of nearly 60 MLAs and pushed for a separate leadership setup.
The move has increased pressure on Mamata Banerjee’s party at a time when questions are already growing over internal control, loyalty, and the role of Abhishek Banerjee in the organisation.
Arrests Add To Political Heat
Alongside the MLA rebellion, the party is also facing heat over the arrest of TMC-linked councillors in Kolkata. The cases include allegations such as extortion, criminal intimidation, and other local-level complaints. Police investigations are still underway, but the timing has added to the wider political crisis.
For TMC, the challenge is now both internal and public. The party must manage the rebel MLAs inside the Assembly while also handling the damage caused by arrest-related controversies. With Bengal politics already tense, the crisis has become a major test for Mamata Banerjee’s leadership and the party’s future direction.
