CM Vijay Reviews Public Safety After Two Separate Crimes Shock Tamil Nadu
Two Incidents Shock Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu’s law-and-order situation has come under sharp focus after two separate crimes in Coimbatore and Madurai triggered public concern. In Coimbatore, a 10-year-old girl from Pallapalayam under Sulur police limits went missing on Thursday, May 21, 2026, while playing near her house. Her body was found the next morning near the Kannampalayam pond bund. Police arrested two men, Karthik and Mohanraj, and invoked provisions under the POCSO Act and BNS after the postmortem confirmed sexual assault. The incident led to protests by relatives and neighbours, who demanded strict punishment and speedy justice.
CM Vijay Orders Fast Action
The concern deepened after a 17-year-old boy was murdered near Sri Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai on Monday, May 25, 2026. Police arrested five suspects, including juveniles, and suspect personal enmity as the motive. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay held a law-and-order review meeting with senior officials and directed police to register cases quickly, speed up investigations, and ensure strict punishment in sexual crimes and other heinous offences. The two cases have now intensified debate over public safety across Tamil Nadu.
