Tiruvannamalai Girivalam Route Safety Under Focus After Two Cases
Safety on the Tiruvannamalai Girivalam route has come under focus after two alleged incidents were reported near the Arunachaleswarar Temple area in Tamil Nadu. The route attracts thousands of devotees, especially during Pournami and festival days, making the issue a serious concern for pilgrims and local residents.
According to reports, police have identified 11 people in connection with the two cases. So far, eight people have been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace three more suspects. Special police teams have been formed to continue the investigation.
Police Step Up Investigation
The incidents reportedly involved women devotees and visitors who had come to Tiruvannamalai for Girivalam. Police suspect that visitors were targeted near less-crowded and isolated stretches of the route.
Following the complaints, Tiruvannamalai police formed five special teams and examined CCTV footage, mobile tower data and local information. The investigation is continuing, and police are searching for the remaining suspects.
Devotees Demand Stronger Safety Measures
The cases have increased public demand for stronger security arrangements along the Girivalam route. Devotees and residents are seeking more CCTV cameras, better lighting, regular police patrolling and quick-response teams, especially during Pournami and other high-footfall days.
The main focus now is to ensure that pilgrims can complete Girivalam with better safety support and confidence. Police said strict action will be taken against those involved.
