Plot
Peddi follows a man from a suppressed village that has no official recognition or railway station. Hurt by this neglect, Peddi decides to enter Indian sports and become a wrestler so his village can finally be noticed. The story is about his struggles, setbacks and emotional fight to achieve that dream.
Overview
Peddi is a predictable but emotionally strong sports drama. The film starts slowly, but gains power before the interval and holds the audience with strong emotions, sports moments and Ram Charan’s intense performance.
Performances
Ram Charan delivers one of his career-best performances. His look, body language and emotional scenes are major highlights. Janhvi Kapoor has a limited but noticeable role. Jagapathi Babu adds depth, Shiva Rajkumar gets a strong part, and Divyendu Sharma makes a good impression.
Technical Aspects
Buchi Babu Sana handles a routine story with emotional strength. The production values are grand, the sets by Avinash Kola look impressive, and the sports portions are well staged. However, the VFX could have been better.
Music
A.R. Rahman’s music and background score are among the biggest strengths of the film. His score lifts the emotional and sports sequences effectively.
Editing
The editing is decent, but the film feels slightly lengthy in parts. A tighter first half could have made the impact stronger.
Positives
- Ram Charan’s performance
- Strong emotional scenes
- A.R. Rahman’s background score
- Interval block and climax twist
- Grand production values
- Sports drama setup
Negatives
- Slow beginning
- Predictable story
- Weak VFX in some portions
- Slightly lengthy runtime
- Limited role for Janhvi Kapoor
Analysis
Peddi works mainly because of its emotional presentation. Though the story follows a familiar sports drama route, Buchi Babu Sana keeps the narrative engaging after a slow start. The pre-interval portions, interval block and climax twist give the film strong theatrical moments.
Ram Charan carries the film with a powerful and award-worthy performance. The emotional connection between Peddi, his village and his mission gives the film its strength. Despite a few flaws, Peddi has enough drama, music and mass appeal to perform well at the box office.
Bottomline: Emotional Winner
