Sampoornesh Babu Interview on His Role in The Paradise

Sampoornesh Babu Interview on His Role in The Paradise

Your Biryani character has surprised everyone. How did the role come to you?
Sampoornesh Babu:
I received a call from director Srikanth Odela’s office and went to meet him. When he explained the character named Biryani, it felt completely new to me. I had never played anything like it before. It is a very serious role and entirely different from all the characters I have portrayed so far. I play Nani’s best friend, and my character appears throughout the film.

How did it feel to move from comedy to such a serious role?
Sampoornesh Babu:
If a character like this had come to me three years ago, I might have avoided some of the mistakes that occurred during my career. Working with Nani and Srikanth Odela gave me immense happiness. I have never been part of a film of this scale before. The makers placed tremendous faith in me, and I made every possible effort to justify their confidence.

What was your experience of working with Nani?
Sampoornesh Babu:
Nani made me feel extremely comfortable. This was the first time I had worked for so many days on such a large production. I learned several things while working on the sets. Nani’s dedication is remarkable, and whenever I performed a scene well, he appreciated and encouraged me.

Did director Sai Rajesh help you secure this opportunity?
Sampoornesh Babu:
Yes. Sai Rajesh called me and said that I would receive a call from Srikanth Odela’s office. He advised me to speak with the team properly and accept the character. Sai Rajesh and Srikanth Odela are very good friends.

You previously worked under Mohan Babu’s banner. How did it feel to act alongside him?
Sampoornesh Babu: I was extremely happy. I had been waiting for a long time for an opportunity to act with Mohan Babu. When I learned that we would have scenes together in The Paradise, I felt delighted. It was like the fulfilment of a long-standing dream.

What physical challenges did you face while preparing for the role?
Sampoornesh Babu:
The team asked me to lose weight for the character, and I did. I also grew my hair and beard and followed every instruction given by the director. I decided not to accept another film until the shooting of The Paradise was completed. Although I received a few offers, I informed them that I would not take up another project until I finished this film.

What can audiences expect from your character?
Sampoornesh Babu:
Just as Paradise biryani is wonderful, the film will also be wonderful. My character will be even more impressive, but audiences will have to wait until September 24 to discover what it is like. Srikanth Odela designed every character with great clarity. Every scene and character has importance in the story, while the emotions and action sequences have also been presented exceptionally well.

What response have the film’s songs received?
Sampoornesh Babu:
The songs “Aaya Sher” and “Yesha Nagula Katta” have received a tremendous response. Wherever we go, we can hear people playing and discussing these two tracks.

How was your experience working with producer Sudhakar Cherukuri?
Sampoornesh Babu:
Sudhakar Cherukuri ensured that I was comfortable throughout the production. He mounted the film on a grand scale, and its world-building will be one of the major highlights. I am also very happy with the remuneration, as this is the highest payment I have received for any film in my career so far.

What can you tell us about your upcoming films?
Sampoornesh Babu:
I want to take on more distinctive and challenging characters. An announcement regarding an interesting new project will be made soon.
