Exclusive Interview: Producer Cherry Opens Up About Jetty Movie

Exclusive Interview: Producer Cherry Opens Up About Jetty Movie

What did you like when director Ritesh narrated the story?
Producer Cherry: It’s a completely different subject. Around 80% of the film happens inside a flight, which is very interesting. Such a concept hasn’t been explored much in Telugu cinema. Ritesh always comes up with unique stories, and I liked this one immediately.

How is your working relationship with Ritesh Rana?
Producer Cherry:  We share a great bond. I see him like family, and he respects that. I like most of the stories he narrates, and working with him is always comfortable.

Mythri Movie Makers is known for big films, while you focus on concept-based films. What is your plan?
Producer Cherry: Mythri Movie Makers is one of the biggest banners in India, and it’s a matter of pride to be associated with them. I personally enjoy producing small and experimental films with lower risk. Films like Mathu Vadalara, Happy Birthday, Meter, and now Jetty follow that approach. Even if some didn’t perform big in theatres, they were commercially viable.

Was this film initially planned with a big hero?
Producer Cherry: Yes, it was first planned as a serious thriller and narrated to a few heroes. But it didn’t fit their image. So Ritesh converted it into a comedy thriller, which suited the story better.

Why was Satya chosen as the lead?
Producer Cherry: The story has several interesting moments that require strong comic timing. Satya was initially unsure about playing the lead, but after hearing the full narration, he agreed. All characters in the film have equal importance, and the action is presented in an entertaining way.

What about Riya Singha’s performance?
Producer Cherry: She is a very talented actress. Her role in the film is strong, and she has performed very well.

How do you judge scripts?
Producer Cherry: No one can predict what the audience will like. But we can ensure the story is fresh and different. If the concept is new, it’s worth taking a risk and experimenting.

How is the music by Kala Bhairava?
Producer Cherry: Ritesh works with the same team from his first film. They all share a similar creative wavelength, which helps deliver the desired output. Everyone has done a great job in this film.

How is the final output of the film?
Producer Cherry: We watched the film, and it came out really well. It’s a complete comedy thriller. The comedy works perfectly, and performances by Satya, Vennela Kishore, Gundu Sudarshan, and Ajay will entertain audiences.

What makes this film special?
Producer Cherry: A comedy film should not just make people laugh; it should also have a strong story. Jetty has both, and it will definitely work.

What are your upcoming projects?
Producer Cherry: I will be doing a horror film with Ritesh next. After that, Mathu Vadalara 3 is also planned. I have heard a few more scripts, but they will take some time.

All the best!
Producer Cherry: Thank you.
