Rashmika Mandanna Exclusive Interview About "The Girlfriend" and Her Nurturing Maternal Instincts
Interviewer: You’ve been working across multiple industries non-stop. Has the pace ever affected you?
Rashmika Mandanna: Absolutely! I tend to overwork myself, and I’ve learned that it’s not sustainable. Many of us in this industry get caught up in deadlines and expectations. But it’s vital to recognize your limits. Whether you work for 8, 9, or 10 hours, that’s enough. Overworking doesn’t only harm the actor but the whole team. Balance is key for everyone.
Interviewer: You've talked about the importance of balance and health. What changes have you made to maintain that?Rashmika Mandanna: These days, I consciously prioritize family time, rest, and fitness. I've realized that no amount of success means anything if you’re not healthy or at peace mentally. I ensure I get proper sleep, eat right, and maintain a regular workout routine. I don’t want to look back one day and regret not taking care of myself.
Director Rahul Ravindran: I believe as we grow older, health becomes even more important. Personally, I want to stay healthy so I can be there for my children until they’re old enough to stand on their own. That thought keeps me motivated to stay fit.
Rashmika Mandanna: That’s beautifully said, Rahul! I completely relate. Although I’m not a mother yet, I already feel a deep, protective instinct. I often think about what kind of mother I’d be, and I believe I’d go to any lengths to protect my children if I had them. It’s that deep feeling I have, even before they are born.
Interviewer: That’s such a heartfelt statement. Do you think your recent roles or personal life experiences have influenced these feelings?
Rashmika Mandanna: I think it’s a little of both. My role in The Girlfriend made me think more about emotional connections and care. But also, on a personal level, I’m learning to slow down, reflect, and focus on what truly matters—family, health, and peace of mind.
Interviewer: There’s been a lot of discussion about working hours in the film industry. Deepika Padukone reportedly limited hers after motherhood. What’s your opinion on this?
Rashmika Mandanna: I completely agree with that. The industry needs to adapt to healthier work practices. We’re all human, and creativity flourishes when people are happy and rested—not when they’re drained. I think the change is happening, and it’s wonderful that more artists are speaking up for a healthier work environment.
Interviewer: The Girlfriend is your first female-led project. What makes it special to you?
Rashmika Mandanna: It’s such an emotional and empowering story. For the first time, the narrative really focuses on a woman’s perspective. Working with Rahul was fantastic because he understood the emotional depth of the story so well. It’s more than just a love story—it’s a reflection on modern relationships and personal strength.
Interviewer: There’s also a lot of buzz about your engagement and wedding to Vijay Deverakonda. Would you like to share anything about that?
Rashmika Mandanna (smiling shyly): (laughs) You always find a way to bring that up! Well, I’ll just say I’m very happy in my personal life. When the time is right, you’ll know everything. For now, I’m focusing on The Girlfriend and my upcoming projects.
Interviewer: Finally, what’s your biggest takeaway from this phase of your life?
Rashmika Mandanna: To be kind to myself. It’s about working hard, but also taking time to rest, love, and truly live. I’m entering a phase where I’m not just chasing success anymore; I’m chasing peace and purpose.
