Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana are expected to experience continued monsoon rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds. IMD has issued district-level warnings, with isolated heavy rain forecast in several areas.
 

Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Brace for Week of Rain

The Andhra Pradesh Telangana rain alert 2026 remains in focus as the India Meteorological Department forecasts continued showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across the two states.

According to official bulletins issued by IMD’s Amaravati and Hyderabad meteorological centres, rain-related conditions are expected to continue in Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana through July 27, with isolated weather activity extending into July 28 in Telangana.

Districts Under Heavy Rain Warning

The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre’s bulletin, issued at 1 pm IST on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places across Telangana until 8.30 am on July 22.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph may occur in all Telangana districts.

For the following 24 hours, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam. Other districts may experience strong surface winds.

Andhra Pradesh Rain Forecast Till July 27

The Amaravati Meteorological Centre’s seven-day forecast, issued at 8 pm IST on July 20, predicted light to moderate rain at scattered or isolated places across Andhra Pradesh and Yanam until July 27.

The district-level warning identified isolated heavy rain in areas including Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Yanam, Bapatla, Prakasam, SPSR Nellore, and Tirupati. Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds are also possible across several coastal and Rayalaseema districts.

Surface wind speeds may reach 40–50 kmph in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema before gradually reducing to around 30–40 kmph. Rainfall is expected to become more isolated during the latter part of the forecast period.

Rain and Wind Conditions Later This Week

From July 23 onwards, Telangana is likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated locations. Strong surface winds of 30–40 kmph may continue across all districts through July 28.

In Andhra Pradesh, isolated light to moderate rain is forecast through July 27. Some districts may remain dry temporarily, but localised showers can still develop because of changing monsoon conditions.

Residents Asked to Remain Cautious

IMD has warned that heavy rain may cause waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic congestion, slippery roads, drainage blockage, and temporary disruption to electricity or water services. Strong winds may also bring down tree branches or unsecured structures.

Residents should avoid taking shelter beneath trees during lightning, secure loose outdoor objects, and follow district-level advisories. Motorists should reduce speed on wet roads and avoid waterlogged routes wherever possible.
