Janasena Targets Congress and BRS Over Assembly Row
Janasena has entered Telangana’s intensifying political confrontation by criticising both the ruling Congress and the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi over recent developments connected to the state Assembly.
The Pawan Kalyan-led party accused the two major political forces of crossing acceptable legislative boundaries. Its intervention is significant because Janasena has been working to expand its presence in Telangana after achieving major electoral success as part of the NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh during the 2024 elections.
Rather than supporting either side in the latest dispute, the Telangana unit of Janasena questioned the conduct of both Congress and BRS. The party said democratic disagreements must not damage the dignity of elected representatives or weaken respect for the Assembly.
Janasena’s statement appears designed to position the party as an alternative voice at a time when the political contest in Telangana is largely dominated by Congress, BRS and BJP.
Janasena Demands Inquiry Into Alleged Police Action
Janasena raised serious objections to the reported treatment of legislators during police intervention linked to the Assembly protests. The party alleged that MLAs were subjected to manhandling and claimed that the sarees of women legislators were pulled during the commotion.
Calling such treatment unacceptable, Janasena said elected representatives, particularly women legislators, must be handled with dignity regardless of their political affiliation. The claims about the police action remain allegations attributed to the party and require confirmation through an official investigation.
Janasena demanded that Chief Minister and Home Minister A Revanth Reddy immediately order an independent inquiry into the episode. It also called for strict action against anyone found responsible, arguing that alleged police excesses should not receive political protection.
The statement placed direct pressure on the Congress government to explain the circumstances of the police intervention and establish whether proper procedures were followed. An impartial investigation, the party argued, would help determine responsibility and prevent competing political claims from overshadowing the facts.
BRS Faces Criticism Over Alleged Speaker Remarks
Janasena did not restrict its criticism to the ruling party. It also targeted BRS over allegedly objectionable remarks made by party MLC Madhu against the Telangana Assembly Speaker.
The party said accountability could not be selective and maintained that political frustration was not a justification for insulting the Speaker or undermining the Assembly as an institution. It described respect for the Speaker’s office as essential to maintaining democratic standards inside the legislature.
By questioning Congress over the alleged police conduct and BRS over the reported remarks against the Speaker, Janasena attempted to maintain equal distance from both parties. The approach allows it to project itself as a party focused on institutional dignity, political accountability and the protection of elected representatives.
The dual criticism could also become part of Janasena’s wider Telangana strategy as it tries to create a separate political identity rather than being viewed only through its alliance politics in Andhra Pradesh.
Pawan Kalyan Party Eyes Independent Telangana Growth
Janasena has sought political space in Telangana for several years but has yet to develop an organisational presence comparable to its base in Andhra Pradesh. Its latest statement suggests that the party intends to become more vocal on major Telangana issues and challenge the state’s established political players.
Although Janasena works with BJP and the Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh, the article states that it is not currently pursuing the same alliance arrangement in Telangana. The party instead appears to be preparing to strengthen its organisation and contest the state’s political space independently.
That strategy will require Janasena to build local leadership, expand its cadre network and consistently address Telangana-specific public concerns. Pawan Kalyan’s popularity may provide visibility, but converting that recognition into electoral support will depend on sustained grassroots activity.
Its intervention in the Assembly controversy could therefore mark the beginning of a more assertive phase. If Janasena continues responding independently to disputes involving Congress and BRS, Telangana may witness another party competing to influence the state’s evolving political narrative.
