Bengal ED Raids Focus On Former Kolkata DCP And Sona Pappu Links
ED Raids Multiple Bengal Locations
The Enforcement Directorate has widened its probe in Bengal by conducting raids at nine locations in Kolkata and Murshidabad linked to former Kolkata DCP Shantanu Sinha Biswas and alleged strongman Sona Pappu, also known as Biswajit Poddar. The searches are part of an investigation into suspected land grabbing, extortion, illegal construction, and hawala transactions. ED officials also reached Biswas’s ancestral house in Kandi, Murshidabad, where the gates were reportedly locked before officers entered the premises.
Focus On Former DCP And Sona Pappu
Biswas was arrested on May 15 after allegedly skipping multiple ED summons. Sona Pappu was arrested four days later after being on the run for nearly three months. Investigators claim both were connected to a wider network involving suspicious financial dealings and property-related intimidation. The case has gained attention because Biswas once handled the high-security Kalighat area in Kolkata. ED officials are now examining digital evidence, financial records, and property links to trace the wider network behind the alleged racket. Source details were taken from the uploaded report.
