Vijay And Sangeetha Divorce Case Adjourned To August 7

Actor-politician Vijay and Sangeetha Sornalingam’s divorce case has been adjourned to August 7 after the matter came up for hearing at the Chengalpattu Mahila court on Monday.

The case has become one of the most closely watched celebrity legal updates in Tamil Nadu because of Vijay’s long public life in cinema and his recent political rise. The court kept the proceedings pending and fixed August 7 as the next date of hearing.

Divorce Case Heard At Chengalpattu Court

The divorce proceedings began after Sangeetha filed a petition earlier this year. In the petition, she made several allegations related to marital discord and claimed that the marriage had broken down.

The case was earlier listed in April. After Vijay and Sangeetha reportedly did not appear for the previous hearing, the court directed them to be present for the next stage of proceedings. The matter was taken up again on June 15 and was later adjourned to August 7.

Claims Made In Sangeetha’s Petition

According to reports, Sangeetha’s petition includes allegations that Vijay was involved in an extramarital relationship with a female actor. The petition claimed that she came to know about the alleged relationship in 2021 and that Vijay had assured her it would end.

The plea further alleged that the relationship continued and that public appearances and social media posts caused humiliation to Sangeetha and the couple’s children. These remain allegations made in the petition, and the court has not given any final finding on them.

Family Life Under Public Attention

Vijay and Sangeetha got married in 1999 and have two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Sasha. Their marriage of nearly 27 years has remained under public discussion since reports of the divorce petition surfaced.

Sangeetha also alleged in her petition that she faced emotional distress, financial restrictions, and changes in facilities that were earlier available to her. The divorce plea has been filed under the provisions of the Special Marriage Act.

Next Hearing Fixed For August 7

The next important development in the case is expected on August 7, when the matter returns to court. Until then, the divorce proceedings will remain pending before the Chengalpattu Mahila court.

The case continues to draw attention from both entertainment and political circles, as Vijay remains one of Tamil Nadu’s most followed public figures. However, since the matter is still before the court, the allegations will be tested through the legal process.
