Madras HC Rejects Ravi Mohan Plea In Aarti Ravi Maintenance Case

Ravi Mohan Interim Maintenance Case: Madras HC Keeps Deadline

The Madras High Court has dismissed actor Ravi Mohan’s petition seeking more time in the interim maintenance case filed by his estranged wife, Aarti Ravi. With this order, the Family Welfare Court in Chennai is expected to hear the maintenance plea within the deadline already fixed by the High Court.

The development has brought fresh attention to the ongoing matrimonial dispute between Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi, as the interim maintenance plea will now move ahead without further delay.

Madras HC Refuses To Extend Deadline

The case came before the Madras High Court after Ravi Mohan sought an extension of the time given to the Family Welfare Court to decide on Aarti Ravi’s interim maintenance plea.

The High Court had earlier directed the Family Welfare Court to hear the plea and pass suitable orders within two weeks. After that direction, Ravi Mohan filed a fresh petition before the High Court asking for more time to complete the proceedings.

However, the Madras High Court dismissed his request and kept the earlier deadline unchanged.

Aarti Ravi’s Interim Maintenance Plea

Aarti Ravi had moved the Family Welfare Court in Chennai seeking interim maintenance as part of the ongoing matrimonial dispute. According to her plea, Ravi Mohan had allegedly not paid interim maintenance from April 2025 onwards.

Her plea also reportedly mentioned expenses connected to their children’s school fees. Since the matter was allegedly not taken up for hearing earlier, Aarti Ravi approached the Madras High Court seeking directions for the case to be heard without delay.

Following her request, the High Court directed the Family Welfare Court to hear the interim maintenance plea and pass orders within the fixed timeline.

Court Hears Objection To Extension Request

The matter was heard by Justice Abdul Quddhose. During the hearing, senior advocate J Ravindran, appearing on behalf of Aarti Ravi, opposed Ravi Mohan’s request for an extension.

He argued against giving more time when the High Court had already fixed a deadline for the Family Welfare Court to decide the matter.

After hearing the submissions, the Madras High Court rejected Ravi Mohan’s petition seeking an extension.

Family Welfare Court To Decide The Matter

The main matrimonial dispute between Ravi Mohan and Aarti Ravi is still being heard before the Family Welfare Court in Chennai. The latest High Court order does not decide the final divorce case or the final maintenance issue.

Instead, it only deals with the timeline for hearing the interim maintenance plea. The Family Welfare Court will now have to hear the application and pass orders as directed.

Why The Case Has Drawn Attention

The case has attracted public interest because Ravi Mohan is a well-known Tamil actor. However, the matter remains a legal dispute between the two parties and is currently before the court.

Since the case involves interim maintenance and family-related claims, the final decision will depend on the submissions and records placed before the Family Welfare Court.

For now, the Madras High Court has made it clear that the earlier deadline must be followed, and the maintenance plea should proceed without further delay.
