Andhra Pradesh is aiming to become a pioneer in quantum technology, with plans to establish a dedicated “Quantum Valley” in Amaravati by 2031. The initiative is designed to position the state as a leading hub for quantum computing research and innovation in India. As part of this vision, the government has launched the Amaravati Quantum Reference Facility (AQRF), a platform intended to support the development and testing of next-generation quantum technologies.
The AQRF, inaugurated on April 14, 2026, will serve as a key research and validation center, featuring systems such as Amaravati 1S and Amaravati 1Q. These facilities are expected to help researchers experiment with and better understand quantum computing applications. Backed by the National Quantum Mission, which has allocated ₹6,000 crore to strengthen India’s quantum ecosystem, the project aims to accelerate innovation and enable real-world testing of quantum components under operational conditions.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the broader vision behind the initiative, stating that it would make advanced quantum technologies more accessible to students, researchers, and startups across the country. Having previously played a key role in developing Hyderabad as a major IT hub, Naidu is now focusing on transforming Amaravati into a global center for quantum computing, marking a significant step in India’s technological advancement.
