AirTrunk’s $30 Billion India Plan To Boost AI And Cloud Infrastructure
AirTrunk’s massive India investment could give a major boost to AI, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure growth.
Australian data centre company AirTrunk has announced a massive $30 billion investment plan for India, giving a major push to the country’s growing AI and cloud infrastructure sector.
The company plans to develop around 5GW of new data centre capacity in India by 2030. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the move and said the investment would strengthen India’s position as a global hub for cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
Why AirTrunk’s India Bet Matters
Data centres are becoming critical as demand for AI tools, cloud services, digital apps, and enterprise technology continues to rise. AirTrunk’s plan comes at a time when several global and Indian companies are racing to build large-scale digital infrastructure.
AirTrunk, backed by Blackstone and CPPIB, already has projects planned across Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad. The company entered India after acquiring Lumina CloudInfra and now sees the country as a major long-term growth market.
The investment is also expected to support jobs, local supply chains, and innovation-led growth. With Google, Reliance and Adani also increasing focus on AI and data infrastructure, India is quickly becoming one of the most important markets in the global AI race.
