Shinde Says Five Rounds Were Fired at Shroff’s BMW
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said five rounds were fired as Shroff was leaving after playing football. The actor escaped a direct gunshot injury but sustained burns to his right hand, Shinde said after visiting him at home. Shroff’s driver and another person were injured in the incident. Reports have differed on the second person’s description, so police confirmation is needed before identifying them more specifically.
Shinde described the shooting as serious and assured Shroff’s family that the state government and Mumbai Police would support them. He said the family had told him they had no dispute or enmity with anyone. Shinde also urged celebrities to inform police promptly if they receive threats. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke with Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and directed police to investigate swiftly and take action against those responsible.
Police Investigate Motorcycle-Borne Attackers
Police said three men arrived on a motorcycle as Shroff was leaving the area and opened fire at his vehicle. The assailants fled after the shooting. The Indian Express reported that Shroff drove his injured driver to Nanavati Hospital; police were investigating the incident and examining evidence from the area.
Bishnoi Group Claim Remains Unverified
A social media message attributed to Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu claimed responsibility for the attack on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi group. Police have not verified the message or confirmed any link between the group and the shooting. Investigators are working to identify the assailants and establish a motive.
