Prateek Yadav, the younger son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, passed away at the age of 38 in Lucknow on May 13, 2026. Prateek had been battling lung-related health issues for some time and had been undergoing treatment for a blood clot in his lungs. He was rushed to a hospital earlier in the morning but was declared dead upon arrival. The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, and a post-mortem is underway.

Prateek was a fitness enthusiast, having often shared his workout routines and accomplishments. He was also a passionate advocate for animal welfare, running an NGO called 'Jeev Aashray,' which cared for and rescued animals in need. Prateek, though born into a prominent political family, chose to stay out of active politics. He had a successful business career, including running a gym in Lucknow named 'The Fitness Planet.'

He is survived by his wife, Aparna Yadav, and their two children. Aparna, who started her career in the Samajwadi Party, later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2022.
