Jannik Sinner To Skip Grass Events After French Open Shock Exit

Sinner’s French Open Defeat Puts Wimbledon Preparation In Focus

Sinner Struggles After Strong Start

World No.1 Jannik Sinner suffered a stunning French Open second-round defeat after losing to Juan Manuel Cerundolo in Paris. Sinner began the match strongly and looked close to victory after taking the first two sets, but the contest changed when he struggled physically in the third set.

The Italian was leading 5-1 in the third set before complaining of dizziness and taking a medical timeout. After returning to court, Sinner could not recover his rhythm and lost 6-3, 6-2, 5-7, 1-6, 1-6. The defeat became one of the biggest surprises of the tournament, as Cerundolo had never beaten a top-10 player before.

Wimbledon Break Now Likely

After the match, Sinner admitted that he had no energy left but refused to blame the Paris heat completely. He said nobody is a robot and accepted that failure is part of sport.

Sinner also indicated that he may skip grass-court tournaments before Wimbledon to recover physically and mentally. Cerundolo, who secured the biggest win of his career, will next face Martin Landaluce in the French Open third round on May 30, 2026.
