VB-G RAM G Launched In Andhra Pradesh To Boost Rural Jobs And Village Infrastructure
Tirupati: Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday launched the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission-Gramin, known as VB-G RAM G, from Mukkavaripalli village in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district.
The nationwide rollout of the rural employment and livelihood programme was held in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who handles Panchayat Raj and Rural Development in the State.
Farm Pond Work Launched Under New Scheme
As part of the programme, Chouhan, Naidu, and Pawan Kalyan took part in the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a farm pond under the VB-G RAM G scheme.
The leaders also launched three development works worth ₹4.55 lakh at Mukkavaripalli village. Chouhan distributed VB-G RAM G job cards to beneficiaries during the event.
Union ministers Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and Kamlesh Paswan unveiled the mission’s promotional theme song, while Pawan Kalyan released the scheme’s information booklet and compendium of articles. The VB-G RAM G online portal was also launched.
₹11,700 Crore Works Planned In Andhra Pradesh
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that Andhra Pradesh would take up works worth ₹11,700 crore under the scheme.
Of this, ₹7,700 crore will come from the Centre, while the State government will contribute ₹4,000 crore. Naidu said the programme would be implemented under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and would help transform villages across Andhra Pradesh.
125 Days Of Employment For Rural Workers
Naidu said the scheme would provide up to 125 days of employment and support the creation of durable rural assets.
The programme will focus on village-level works such as roads, drainage systems, canals, farm access roads, cattle shelters, farm ponds, and other infrastructure. These works are expected to improve rural connectivity, water conservation, and livelihood opportunities for village households.
The Chief Minister said modern technologies such as geo-tagging, biometric authentication, and digital monitoring would ensure transparency in implementation.
Andhra Pradesh Highlights Rural Employment Record
Naidu said Andhra Pradesh had generated 554.4 million person-days of employment in the last two years by spending ₹16,695 crore under rural employment programmes.
He said the State had also completed 7,000 km of cement concrete roads, constructed 40,000 cattle shelters, 15,500 water troughs, over 1.07 lakh farm ponds, 1,373 km of roads in tribal areas, and developed horticulture plantations across 1.66 lakh acres.
For the current year, the State has set targets to construct 10,000 km of gravel roads, 1,500 km of cement and BT roads, 500 km of magic drains, and develop horticulture plantations across one lakh acres.
Centre Announces Houses And Rural Road Support
Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Centre was committed to accelerating rural development through the VB-G RAM G programme. He announced that Andhra Pradesh would receive ₹7,700 crore during the first nine months of implementation.
The Union minister also announced 74,212 permanent houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and ₹422 crore for rural road connectivity in Andhra Pradesh.
He said gram sabhas would identify and approve development works under the scheme so that village-level needs receive priority.
Relief Announced For Totapuri Mango Farmers
Chouhan also announced that the Centre would procure 216,250 metric tonnes of Totapuri mangoes under the Market Intervention Scheme.
The move is expected to support mango farmers in Andhra Pradesh, especially those facing price-related concerns in the market.
Naidu Says Amaravati Works Are Progressing
Naidu thanked the Centre for extending support to Andhra Pradesh’s development. He said construction works in Amaravati were progressing rapidly and asserted that no one could stop the development of the State capital.
The Chief Minister also reiterated that the Polavaram Project would be completed before the next Godavari Pushkaram and dedicated to the nation.
State ministers Satya Kumar Yadav and Anagani Satya Prasad, MLA Arava Sridhar, senior officials and other public representatives attended the programme.
